Now you can easily add photos to your Twitter stream directly from the Twitter application. In the past, you could post a link to an image, or you could use a third party application to upload a picture. The links would take you to another window where they would be visible. Now a small image will show directly to the right of your stream. There will still be a link that you can click on to view the image in a larger view.
To add any photo from your desktop, click on the gray camera icon on the lower left of your post window. You can find this screen under the Home menu. When you click this icon it will bring up a Finder window that allows you to choose any file on your computer. After selecting your file a thumbnail image will appear so that you can be sure you have the correct photo. The camera icon will turn blue to show the image was successfully loaded. You can type a Tweet that mentions or describes the photo, or you can leave this area blank. Images can be up to 3Mb or smaller.
Click the Tweet button and away you go! Your followers can now click on the Tweet you have posted and see the image.
If you are working from your mobile SmartPhone, the process is very much the same. From the Twitter application on your phone, click on the Write Post icon in the top right corner of the screen. Next click on the camera icon in the middle of your screen. The “Take Photo or Video” and “Choose from Library” links will show up. Click which ever one of these is appropriate and select a file.

Click the send button to Tweet your photo. Wallah!
No excuses now for not sharing your best photos on Twitter. And you and your followers won’t even have to leave your Twitter stream to view these photos.

What do you think about it? Is this something that you feel has been needed? What will you use this feature for? I can see great benefit in being able to quickly share images with your followers. You might upload event photos, images that help customers understand how to use your products, pictures of locations where you can be met in a crowd, and many other things.
